The Department of Veterans' Affairs provides information on memorial benefits, health services, life insurance programs and more.
 
To claim veterans benefits, you will need to supply the funeral home with a copy of the decedent's DD-214 form. If you cannot locate it, Click here to order a replacement copy of the DD-214 form.
 
The Social Security Administration As of January 1, 2011, the Social Security Administration is automatically notified of a death when the funeral home completes the online death certificate. Their site provides information on potential benefits that can be claimed by the survivors.
